About Me

My first exposure to the Technique was in Leicester while studying performing arts. I was intrigued and continued with formal classes in London.

I soon discovered that applying the ideas in everyday activity prompted subtle but profound changes to my whole life. I decided to explore the work in more depth, and ultimately qualified as a teacher in New York in 2002 with the American Society of Alexander Teachers.

I am a member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique in the UK.

I work with individuals from all walks of life who seek to alleviate long term issues or to improve performance. I hold workshops for specialist groups, and run training programmes which include the DSE guidelines.

I also have over thirty years experience teaching piano at all ages and levels, from beginner to diploma.

My private practices are in London and Dorset, and I also work internationally as a consultant.

I continue to develop my interests and studies in somatic education. I am particularly interested in the Feldenkrais Method and the Movement Intelligence work of Ruthy Alon.

  • "After one lesson with Ruth I was pain-free for the first time in several months. I thoroughly recommend her to anyone suffering from back pain."

  • “Ruth introduced me to the Alexander Technique many years ago and I took several courses over an extended period. It is something that has stayed with me ever since and has changed my life. I often catch myself ‘thinking up’ and it always provides a guide for how to orient myself.”

  • “I am so pleased that I found Ruth. The Alexander Technique can be quite life changing and Ruth is an excellent teacher. I find her tremendous knowledge and expertise, coupled with her kindness and patience, make the lessons special for me.”
